Daniel E Bingham

Daniel Ellsworth Bingham, 93, passed away at Hospice Care Center on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.
Born in Altoona, PA on September 4, 1921, Dan came to Akron as a young man and worked at Motors Inn until entering the US Air Force. He served with distinction as an airman in WWII, attaining the rank of Captain. His outstanding performance as bomber pilot earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he managed Motors Inn until he became co-owner of S&S Tire in Barberton, Ohio, retiring in 1986. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, eventually achieving 32nd-degree standing. Dan was a respected member of the Ohio Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association, serving as their President in 1976-77. He was also active in the Akron Businessmen's Association.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 71 wonderful years, Virginia F. (Turner) Bingham, originally of Texas, whom he married on March 3, 1944 in Goldfield, Nevada; he was the devoted father of: Frankie Danielle Buck (John), Gahanna, OH; Dr. Carol L. Bingham Kirby (Dr. Steven), Buffalo, NY; and Dr. Keith Daniel Bingham (Sheri), Marshallville, OH.; loving grandfather "Pop" of Stacey Stiffler (Mike), Gahanna, OH; Sean Buck, Columbus, OH; Michael Buck (Sue), Columbus, OH; Kelly Bingham, Saratoga Springs, NY; Kara Bingham Regan (David), New York, NY; and Kristin Bingham McGuire, Orrville, OH.; great grandfather of Mickey, Daniel, Jensen, Kayla, Kamdin, and Kynlie; great-great grandfather of Landyn; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers, Larry and Paul and sister, Catherine.
Friends will be received at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333 on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 10 A.M. until 12 Noon; A Committal Service will follow, with military honors being held at 1:00 P.M. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH 44270.
