Henry Jameson Obituary

Henry Jameson, 87, devoted father, husband, uncle and friend, died peacefully Tuesday, August 19, 2014.

Henry led a full, rich and faithful life. He loved music, especially classical music and opera, and attended a concert at Blossom a few days before his death. He also loved nature and travel and the wonders of transportation systems. At the age of 85, he returned to Yosemite National Park, where he had spent a summer working as a young man. He was famous among family and friends for his encyclopedic memory.

A Goodyear retiree and 40 year resident of Bath, Henry served in the Navy V-12 Program during World War II and received degrees from Purdue University, Cornell University and Union Theological Seminary (NY). In his 14 years in ministry, he started South Hills Presbyterian Church in Vestal, New York, and pastored 4 congregations. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Akron.

His first wife, Jane, died of cancer in 1968. His daughters were delighted when he married Dorothy Young in 1971, and they were married for 37 years until her death in 2007. He is survived by his daughters Martha and Helen (Eric Bremer) both of Chicago, who will miss him dearly.

Thanks to all the people at Concordia at Sumner for their attentiveness, caring and friendship.
