Mabel "Buggsy" Dever

Mabel "Buggsy" Dever left to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. She was born 92 years ago in Fairmont, W.V. to John and Myrtle Davidson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles M. "Charlie" Dever; sisters, Ruby Hartmann, Macil Luikart, Ruth Butcher; and brother, Basil Davidson. She is survived by her son John Dever of Akron, her sisters, Katherine Hunt of Akron, Sarah Guinn of Bridgeport W.V., Bessie Lou Wilson of Wilmington, N.C., and brother, John Davidson, of Buchannon, W.V. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Buggsy was known for her cooking and baking, especially peach and blueberry pies, peanut butter cookies, special Christmas fruitcakes, biscuits, and creamed tomatoes. She had a long career in high fashion where she was known for her sense of style, color, and fabric.

She was a special friend to many and a second mother to many of her nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children. When misfortune struck, she was the first one to be there for help; be it cooking, cleaning, nursing, or giving of herself or her purse strings. Aunt "Bugs" could always be counted on.

Insight, wisdom, kindness, understanding, and a giving nature are qualities of the heart and Aunt "Bugs" had these in abundance. Her love of Jesus was shown by her selfless giving of herself to many - and never, ever offer to pay her - she gave of herself out of love.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 12:00 noon at Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 North Miller Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333. Family and friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon before the service.
