Perry Demming Obituary

Perry "Pete" Thomas Demming passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 after a brief illness.
Pete was born August 2, 1934 in Akron to Perry Thurston and Martha Schueneman Demming, and lived there his entire life until 1994, when he and his family moved to Wadsworth.
Pete attended Buchtel High School and graduated from The University of Akron in 1956. In college, Pete was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and was the university's first ever mascot, "Zippy". He was a proud member of the United States Air Force and earned the rank of Captain.
He spent most of his professional life as an industrial roofing salesman and consultant at the Garland Company in Cleveland, OH. He was one of its founders, and considered his business partners some of his very best friends. He loved his profession, the people he worked with, and the friendships he made over forty years in the industrial roofing business. He especially valued his lifetime friend and associate Bill Oley and his family.
Pete accomplished many of his life's goals. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and being on the water. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and had love and pride for this great country. If you knew him, you would hear him speak of it in nearly every conversation.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Clemens Demming; sister Karol; and his children, Brooke (Kurt) Heinrich of Colorado, Perry Tyler (Christie) Demming, Justin (Erin) Demming, from a previous marriage, Perry Timothy (Debbie) Demming, Shelly Demming Carmack of South Carolina. He also leaves behind his twelve beautiful grandchildren, Katelyn, Elyse, Emma, Ryan, Vanessa, Isaac, Noah, Evan, Emily, Maxwell, Elizabeth, Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Michael Carmack.
Pete's family gives heartfelt gratitude to all his friends and family for making his life so wonderful. There are so many special people in his life who have made an impact that we cannot begin to name them all. We would like to thank our neighbors of the past forty years; the Galehouse, Breaux, and Stevens families, and Moise and Leslie, and the many people he spent his summers with in Vermilion at Linwood and the Lagoons. Special thanks is given for the tender care and compassion given at Akron General Medical Center and Hospice by the many physicians, nurses and staff. Gretchen Pavkov will hold a special place in our hearts for the uplifting visits.
Pete dearly loved his family and was loved by his family. His wife Betty supported him in all his business and outdoor ventures for forty-six years. They raised a wonderful family together. His final message to all would be to ask God to bless his friends and family, and God bless America.
