Robert L. Marlowe

Robert Marlowe (Bob), 83, went to be with our Lord April 12, 2014.

Bob was born in Amherst, Ohio to the late Bert and Beatrice Marlow (Reynolds). After graduation from Amherst High School, he served in the US Navy until 1954, and graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in 1958. Bob retired as a Research Scientist from Goodrich-Uniroyal-Michelin Tire Co. where he held several patents. He continued consulting work at Standards Testing Laboratories and later, Linglong Tire Co. Bob enjoyed sailing, nature and managing his rental units. Grilling his favorite foods and sending his grandchildren on treasure hunts (along with chocolate and ice cream) were some of his greatest pleasures.

Bob is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elaine; his children, Robert Marlowe, Jr. (Susan), Elizabeth Smith (Paul), and Phillip Marlowe (Heather); his grandchildren, Jessica Biddle (Randy), Jonathan Marlowe (Shauna), Andrew Smith (Katie), Erin Smith, Garrett Marlowe, and Lauren Marlowe; great granddaughter, Lenna Marlowe; brothers, William Marlow (Florence) and Gerald Marlow (Joan); sisters, Willa Maresh and Judy Stacey (Dan Contento); many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Smith and twin daughters at their birth.

Our family wishes to thank Dr. Petrus and the staff of AGMC Oncology Department, as well as Dr. Niedermaier and the staff of Summa Cardiology Department and SAMS Clinic for their kindness and compassion in Bobs care. We love you, Dad.

Calling hours will be at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, Ohio, 44333, Saturday, April 19, 5-8 P.M., with private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akron Children's Hospital Oncology Department or Habitat for Humanity. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
