David Paul Jentzsch, Jr.

David Jentzsch (Skipper) passed away peacefully at the age of 68 in his home with his wife and daughters present. He was born on October 19, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Barbara and David Paul Jentzsch. He married Lu Ann Meyers on September 15, 1978 in the St. George, UT temple and they had four daughters- Julie, Laura, Becky, and Diane.

He grew up in Sandy, UT with his three younger sisters.  He has always loved the outdoors and learned the importance of working hard.  He was active in his church and youth group and was an Eagle Scout.  He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the state of Washington. He attended Brigham Young University, University of the State of New York and Regis University.  He has a Bachelor’s of Science and a Masters of Business Administration.  He served in the United States Navy, active duty for 9 years, then as a reservist for 15 years and retired as a Commander.  He was General Manager and eventually President of Blair Rubber Industries in Seville, Ohio where he worked for 24 years. 

Dave has traveled all over the world. He traveled the pacific area with the Navy, and international places for his job, or with his family.  He has lived in Utah, Washington, Idaho, Florida, Hawaii, California, and Ohio.  He loves the outdoors and has had many adventures hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, white water rafting, dirt biking, snowmobiling, and touring.  He ended up loving buffalo hunting and made a delicious buffalo chili that won 1st place at a church chili cookoff.  He could be found outside in his spare time gardening, yard work, tending to his bees or chickens, and making maple syrup. 

Skipper is what his children, grandchildren and close friends lovingly call him. Most of his life he has been surrounded by women (sisters, daughters, and granddaughters), he loved his sons-in-laws as his sons and really enjoyed his grandsons. He is known for his stories, teasing, arm wrestling the boys, playing games and his quiet but hardworking nature.  He has been a pillar in the community and has served in many different capacities. He was very loved and will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his wife, Lu Ann; his daughters, Julie (Brandt) Miller, Laura (Matthew) Perkins, Rebecca (Rees) Watson, Diane (Cory) Everette; his sisters, Debbie (Scott) Chatwin, Cindy Dunnavant, Heidi (John) Dansie; 15 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. 

Calling Hours will be held THURSDAY, April 25 from 6-8PM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333. Funeral Services 10:00AM FRIDAY, April 26 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 735 N. Revere Rd. Akron, OH 44333. The service will also be livestreamed on the Billow Funeral Homes and Crematory facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BillowFuneralHomes/ .  Burial with full Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
