Obituary

Marilyn Sue Sahli, 92, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died November 12, 2019. She was born September 25, 1927 in Beaver Falls, PA, to Ira Sigsbee and Gertrude (nee Lambert) Sahli.

Sue was a graduate of Denison University, with a library degree from Western Reserve University and a Ph D. from Case Western Reserve University. Her career took her to Cleveland Public Library, the Cleveland State University library and the Library Science department of Northern Illinois University. Her personal life centered around music, the natural world, travel and family. She especially valued her friendship in local groups of the Sierra Club and the National Audubon Society, which she joined everywhere she lived. One of her proudest accomplishments is the donation and development of the I.S. and Gertrude Sahli Nature Park in Chippewa Township, Beaver County, PA. A memorial dedication in her honor at the park is being planned for Spring 2020.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and David Schaal, and grandnephew, Joshua West.

She is survived by her niece, Susan Schaal West (John) of Castroville, CA.; grandnephews, Christopher LaMay West (Abbey) of Lincoln, VT. and Noah West of Castroville, CA. She also leaves behind special friends, Jason Frederick of Ambridge, PA and Christopher Burns of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and their families.

There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, PA. Donations in her memory may be made to I.S. and Gertrude Sahli Nature Park c/o Chippewa Municipal Building, 2811 Darlington Rd., Beaver Falls, PA 15010.
