Amanda Hinton
January 17, 1975 – June 13, 2025
Amanda Hinton, 50, of Fairlawn, Ohio, passed away on June 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, coach, and friend.
Amanda was a triplet, born with her siblings George and Nicole. From a young age, the three—together with their older sister, Heather—shared a deep love for swimming.
As a young girl, Amanda competed on multiple USS swim club teams and swam all four years at Copley-Fairlawn High School. She later continued her swimming career at the collegiate level, representing the Bowling Green Falcons where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health and Health Education.
She was an entrepreneur who built her career around her love for aquatics. She founded two swim-related businesses, AH2O and the Copley Aquatics Program. Later, she served as both the swim coach and natatorium director at Copley-Fairlawn High School, where she poured her heart into mentoring student-athletes and transforming the local swim community.
Amanda’s athletic passion reached beyond the pool. She also competed in bodybuilding, a pursuit that demanded discipline, strength, and a champion’s mindset. Over the years, she earned numerous titles, but more importantly, through the world of bodybuilding, Amanda forged some of her most cherished and lasting friendships.
Above all, Amanda loved being an aunt. She cherished her nieces and nephews—Cole, Melina, Ava, Isaac, Kai, and Scarlett—and loved them as if they were her own. Her devotion to family extended to her four-legged companions as well; Amanda was an animal lover who adopted many dogs, offering them loving homes and endless affection.
She was deeply proud of her Greek heritage and was known for her remarkable strength—both physical and emotional. Amanda had a generous spirit and a willingness to show up for others, always ready to lend a hand or just sit and listen. She faced her long battle with cancer with grit, resilience, and unwavering courage. Even in her final days, she continued to inspire those around her with her tenacity and refusal to give up.
Amanda was preceded in death by her father, George Hinton. She is survived by her mother, Sharon Hinton; her siblings, Heather Taylor (Dwight), George Hinton (Shelly), and Nicole Stratton (Trent);her beloved nieces and nephews; her Aunt Susan, as well as her uncles and cousins. Her impact on her family, her students, and her community will never be forgotten.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the many friends and loved ones who offered Amanda such heartfelt support during this time—especially her dear friend, Leyla, whose presence was a true comfort.
