Andy George Kariotis, age 98, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, peacefully passed away on July 2, 2025, reuniting with his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara. Born on February 9, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, Andy was the cherished son of George Kariotis and Sophia Manoussadakis, who preceded him in death, along with his three brothers, Nick, John, and Paul.
At the age of 18, Andy proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served with honor during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to complete his high school education and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Shoemaker.
A gifted athlete, Andy excelled in basketball during his high school years and carried that passion into adulthood as a dedicated coach for the Monarchs, a basketball team made up of Cuyahoga Falls athletes. His leadership and encouragement left a lasting impression on many young athletes in the community. Andy was also an avid sports fan, passionately supporting the New York Yankees, New York Giants (football), and Boston Celtics.
Professionally, Andy was a respected executive in the manufacturing industry. He served as Executive Vice President of Hamlin Steel Products at the Brenlin Corporation and previously worked at Falls Stamping and Welding, earning the admiration and respect of his colleagues and employees.
A devoted member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls, Andy was actively involved in church life for many years, generously sharing his faith and kindness with all who knew him.
Andy will be remembered as a well-respected, loving, and generous man. His legacy lives on through his family: son Steven (Karen), daughter Susan (Will), grandchildren Andrea, Erin, Kelsey, Rachel, Sarah, Mary Kate, Krystin, and Jenn, as well as 11 greatg randchildren.
His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to family, friends, and community will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Andy’s Life, officiated by the Rev. Ross Slaughter, will be held 11 A.M. WEDNESDAY July 9th, 2025 at the Billow FALLS Memorial Chapel, 1907 23rd St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. The family will receive friends during Calling Hours which begin at 10 A.M. Andy will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. He will be interred with full military honors, with honors being rendered by the United States Army and by the Charles Faust American Legion Post #281. All who knew and loved Andy are welcome to attend.
