Barbara Brodie, 80, of Medina OH, passed away on July 21st, 2026. She was born in Prairie City, Oregon to Betty (Moore) and Lewis Rynearson. She was raised in Walla Walla, Washington on her father, Bob Ponti's farm. 

Growing up mom was surrounded by extended family, spending summers with her brother and cousins at their great-grandparents, Melissa Meader, farm in Oregon. Bobbie Jo was the nickname everyone called her by. Her Aunt Mary instilled a love for sewing. Sewing and crafting were a passion that lasted her entire life. She especially enjoyed making elaborate Christmas ornaments for her family every year. Mom was very civic minded and the community oriented. She spear-headed the start up the non-profit Morris County Council on Drug and Alcohol in New Jersey. She volunteered as a Poll Worker in Pennsylvania. She was a State Master Gardener in both Pennsylvania and Ohio, where she thrived on providing community instruction on a variety of topics. Being in the garden was her happy place. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier parish in Medina, OH.

Mom was a red-headed firecracker in her youth, and this zest for life prevailed throughout her life’s journey. She graduated from DeSales Catholic High School, Walla Walla, WA in 1963.

In 1963 she married Earl Jefferis, Kevin was born in 1964. In 1968 she married Colin Brodie, (Caren) Colleen was born in 1971. In 1972 the family moved from Pleasanton, CA to Denville, NJ. Mom loved living on the water and was active in a variety of Indian Lake sporting events and social life.

In 1991 she moved to Roaring Branch,PA where she indulged in having the flower gardens of her dreams. She worked for Prudential Insurance Co. providing investment advice and insurance options for small businesses.

In 2014 she moved to Medina OH to reside with her daughter, Colleen. They thoroughly enjoyed planting an extensive flower garden at their home; bird watching in their yard; playing and snuggling with her cats; and taking day trips to local attractions.

Blessed with a loving family, she is survived by son, Kevin Brodie of Valley Springs, CA; daughter, Colleen Brodie of Medina, OH; grandchildren, Shane Brodie (Lency) of Valley Springs, CA, and Jared Brodie of Stockton, CA; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Brodie of Moorcroft WY, and Nickolas Brodie of Stockton, CA. Brother, Gary Ponti (Marilyn) of Walla Walla, WA.

A Celebration of Life Service and Interment will be held at Foxfield Preserves in Wilmot OH at a later date.
