Bette Jayne Wagner, 91, of Kent, Ohio, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Creekside Hospice.
Born December 22, 1918, in Kent, Ohio, to W. H. and Laura Mae Leary Heath, she grew up and attended school in Kent, Ohio. She graduated from Kent State High School and attended Kent State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in Business. She married Leslie L. Wagner in Ohio on August 21, 1954. Leslie died in April, 1976. Bette volunteered for many activities including serving as PTA President, on the Girl Scout Council, after school programs and the Sunshine Foundation. She received her pilot's license and was a private pilot.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Smith; brothers, Roger and Carter Heath; and a granddaughter, Gina. She is survived by her daughters, Lesli B. Wagner of Idaho Falls, Leisa C. William Bennett of New Market, New Hampshire; stepson, Bruce Don Wagner of Alabama; stepdaughter, Margaret Ann Snyder of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Robert William Bennett of New Market, New Hampshire, Lauren MacKenzie Wagner of Idaho Falls, Gina Marie Snyder, Joseph Snyder and Nick Wagner; sister, Jan Treat of Dayton, Ohio; nephews, Kim Kathy Treat of Kensington, Maryland and Bill JoMarie Treat of Auburn, New York; and a niece, Jan Max Cockerill of Dayton, Ohio.
Graveside services will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
