Betty Mae Sawyer, 87, loving wife and mother, died peacefully October 21, 2009 at the Ridgewood Road Hospice Care Center.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, they moved to Florida after Ed's retirement where they continued to enjoy their love of golf. They moved to Akron eight years ago, eventually settling in at Sumner on Ridgewood where they made many new friends.
Preceded in death in May by Ed, her loving husband of 61 years; she is survived by daughter, Karen William Silver; her four grandchildren, Megan, Kathryn, Bryan and Kevin; nephew, Richard Elaine Oeler; and nieces, Bonnie Ransom Fields and Pat Jim Snyder.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. WEDNESDAY, October 28th at St. Paul's Episcopal Chapel corner of Kenilworth and W. Market St., with Rev. Mark J. Pruitt officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow at the Memorial Garden at St. Paul's after which a reception will be held in the Church Parlor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333 or to the Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron, One Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308.
