Betty Jean Wein

Betty Jean McClanahan Wein, age 76 years, formerly of Akron, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Oswego, New York.

Betty was born in Charleston, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Irvin E. and Margaret A. (Javins) McClanahan. Betty was an avid bowler in her early years. She loved to play bingo and bunco with her friends and was one of Elvis Presley’s biggest fans. Betty was kind, tender-hearted, and always the life of the party. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen J. Wein. She is survived by her son, Brian M. (Rachelle) Wein; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen (Erny) Papay of Oswego, New York, and her brother, Irvin E. “Macky” (Pam) McClanahan of North Canton; was loved by her three nephews: Jeremy, Stephen, and Collin; and three great-nephews; and many friends and relative.

A funeral service honoring Betty’s life will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday June 30 at The Billow Funeral Homes FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 North Miller Road with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Richfield. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday.
