Billy Joe Collins, 70, died March 27, 2009.
Born in Wayland, Kentucky, he was a resident of Akron since 1977. He was a Navy Seabee, retiree with 33 years of military service and a retired electrical contractor.
Preceded in death by daughter, Catherine and brother, Bobby, he is survived by his wife, Micheline; daughters, Joanne and Patricia; sons-in-law, James and Gary; grandchildren, Anthony wife Amanda, Gunnar, Brendan, Hedda and Adelle; sisters, Anna husband George Rife and Delores Jimenez; and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood Road for compassionate care.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at East Liberty Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Webb officiating. Military honors will be provided by Firestone VFW Post #3383. Friends may call at the Billow LAKES Chapel, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. Rt. 619, Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333.
