Bonnie B. Frye, a longtime Copley resident, passed peacefully Monday, Oct. 19 surrounded by her loving family. Bonnie is together again with her late husband Bill Frye, who passed away in April.
Bonnie was a proud graduate of Purdue University and The University of Akron. She worked as a social worker and teacher. She helped countless children at St. Martha's and St. Anthony's learn to read.
After the loss of her infant son Ryan, she founded the Akron chapter of The Compassionate Friends, a bereavement group for parents.
Above all, Bonnie was a devoted wife to husband Bill, a loving mother to her children and an adoring grandmother. She enjoyed golfing with the family and working in her garden. She spent many evenings with Bill on their deck chatting about news and events while watching birds and enjoying nature. She was an avid reader and also loved walking on the beach, especially at the Outer Banks. Bonnie was a passionate sports fan, supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.
Bonnie is survived by sons, Jay Laura Frye of Hudson, Andy Jessy Frye of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Kelly Eric Luecke of Doylestown; mother, Margie Boyd of St. Edwards Village; brother, Mike Becky Boyd and family of Ocala, Fla.; and grand-daughters, Lauren and Cameryn Luecke. She was preceded in death by husband of 40 years, Bill Frye; son, Ryan Boyd Frye; and father, William Boyd.
As requested by Bonnie, she was laid to rest with Bill and late son Ryan in a small private ceremony at Copley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Happy Trails Animal Sanctuary 5623 New Milford Rd., Ravenna, Ohio 44266 or Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association 1403 W. Hines Hill Road, Peninsula, Ohio 44264.
