Carolyn Sue Tissot Ford Stucker, 85, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Akron, Ohio. Born on August 15, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, Carolyn embraced a life brimming with creativity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
After graduating from Wooster High School, Carolyn pursued her passion for fashion at Stephens College, earning an Associate’s degree in the field. As a talented synchronized swimmer, she was given the opportunity to swim a solo routine in Copenhagen in front of thousands of people, including that city’s mayor. That trip was a life-changing experience for her, as she also met Helen Hayes on the 4th of July and lunched with the Lord Mayor of London. She returned to Wooster, where she later married and served as social chairwoman of the Wooster Country Club. Her career in fashion sales included a memorable chapter at Apropos in Beverly Hills, where she worked closely with movie stars and athletes. Later in life, Carolyn devoted herself to homemaking and raising her two children—roles she held closest to her heart.
A deeply faithful Christian with a love for gospel music, Carolyn drew inspiration from seeing God’s presence in all beings. Her faith guided her kind and generous spirit throughout her life. She had a unique gift for uplifting others through heartfelt conversations and acts of kindness that left a lasting impact on those around her.
Carolyn channeled her artistic talents into painting, gardening, and home improvement projects. Her dedication to creating beauty was recognized with the Akron Neighborhood Beautification Award—a testament to her passion for enhancing the world around her. Her cherished dog Hero was a constant source of companionship and joy.
She is survived by her daughter Anara Katsaropoulos (Chris) of Bloomington, Indiana; son Andy Ford of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren Taylor Near (Mike) of Carmel, Indiana, Elijah Nelson of Seward, Alaska, Skylar Nelson of Bloomington, Indiana; great granddaughter, Elliott Near; and niece Carolyn Berman-Braun (Conrad) of Naples, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Doris Tissot; sister Marilyn Berman; nephew, David Berman (Cassie) and husband Richard Stucker.
Carolyn's legacy is one of kindness, artistry, and steadfast faith. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N Market St., Wooster. Interment immediately following in Wooster Cemetery.
