Catharine Lee Hart, age 90 passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, surrounded by friends and family who loved her dearly. Cathy was born June 13, 1935, to John and Catharine Davison in Erie Pennsylvania. Cathy graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Kent State University in 1957 and moved to Michigan to work at Dow Chemical. There she met the love of her life, Leroy Hart and the two were married on December 29, 1957. Cathy and Lee welcomed their first-born child, Janet Hart on November 25, 1958 and their second child Douglass Hart December 15, 1960. The family moved to Ohio as Lee pursued his career in the ministry where Cathy received her teaching degree in chemistry. Cathy became a High School Chemistry teacher and worked as such for 30 years before retiring from Copley High School. Cathy’s passion for education never left her though, after retirement she continued to teach senior citizens computer science as well as working as a guide at Nature Realm. Cathy encouraged this love of education in not only her children but also her two granddaughters. Those who knew her knew she always had a book on hand and an expansive library. Her loved ones would frequently request book recommendations, of which she had many. Lee and Cathy spent their golden years traveling the world and enjoying life together to the fullest. Cathy is survived by her loving daughter Janet West, her granddaughters Katharine Watson and Clarissa West, and four great grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Teddy, and Ruby Watson. Cathy was a kind, loving, and generous person who made everyone around her better by knowing her. She is deeply missed and forever loved.
