Charlene Wilson, 98, passed away peacefully on the evening of May 6th. Charlene was born on October 3, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, to Irene and Carl Herman.
She attended Butchel High School and The University of Akron, where she was a proud member of Delta Gamma sorority. Charlene pursued a career as a home economics teacher, but her even bigger passion was raising her four children.
Charlene was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Hilary Church. She appreciated her travels around the world, including Europe and Asia. Charlene was fortunate to visit the Holy Land, where she dipped her toes in the water and rode a camel. But Charlene’s most frequent and favorite trips were anywhere she could feel the warmth of the sun, walk the beach, and enjoy the sunset.
Charlene was known for her contagious smile and big heart and was best known by her family for her joyous laugh, honest wit, and sophisticated yet colorful style. She especially enjoyed spending holidays with her family and making her famous porcupine meatballs for birthday dinners. Charlene’s favorite moments were the ones she shared with her family, who will miss her greatly.
Charlene is survived by her son, Steve Wilson, and daughter, Reni Wilson; grandchildren, Steven, Kevin, and Marissa Wilson; daughters-in-law, Cindy and Elizabeth Wilson, and her niece, Nan Madden. Charlene is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, George E. Wilson; children, Greg and Georganne Wilson, and sister Dolores (Dolly) Milar.
