Charles Robert “Bob” Gill, 82, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on February 28, 2026. Born on May 16, 1943, Bob grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, a community that he truly loved. He was a kind man defined by steady character, quiet strength, and devotion to living a life of high moral standards. Known simply as “Bob”, he carried himself with integrity, humility and a kind smile. He believed in hard work and personal responsibility.
Bob truly enjoyed his career at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he dedicated 34 years of his professional life to working in their accounting division. Beyond his career, he found joy in several creative outlets. As a young man, Bob performed in many productions at the Goodyear Community Theatre. He loved music, art and woodworking. His love for making things evolved over the years and led to a spectacular run at The Soap Box Derby. Derby Downs was where you could find him mentoring many, including his own children and grandchildren. Bob was not only creative, but he also loved Cleveland sports, nothing more than his beloved Mount Union Purple Raiders of Alliance, Ohio. Bob graduated from Mount Union in 1967 and remained steadfast in his passion for his alma mater. He attended football games for as long as he could climb the bleachers. Bob also found joy tending to his beautiful yard, where he received more than one “Keep Akron Beautiful” award.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Myrtle Gill; aunt Virginia Wiseman; cousins John and Steve Galit.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Joyce, who lovingly cared for him throughout his many health struggles; his daughters, Erica Gill-Shotts (Sean), Shannon Gill (Tony), and Dianne Holibaugh; son Steve Fishel; grandchildren, Taylor, Charlie, Jordan, Ian, Paulo, Nina, Lauren and Evan; great-granddaughter Harper; cousin, Patricia Kemph (Richard) and many other loving family members and friends.
