Listen to Obituary

Chuck was a true patriot and honorably served in the U. S. Military for close to 34 years. He served with the Air Force for almost 4 years then later transitioned into the US Army where he served for over 20 years in the Military Police and 9 years as a Recruiter / Retention NCO. He retired with the rank of SFC in 1994 with an Honorable Discharge from the military. He served thru Viet Nam and the Persian Gulf conflicts and was also stationed in Germany for some time.

He was a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio and had a huge heart by taking care of his Aunt Miriam until she passed away in 2003, when she was in her 80’s. Chuck’s journey to heaven will reunite him again with his beloved grandparents John and Reba Proffitt.

Chuck was a very honest and simple man who had a great passion for researching and investigating the history of World War II and was an ardent collector of military accoutrements of that period. He enjoyed attending local and international militaria shows and meeting fellow Veterans with their “war stories” at these shows.

He had many collector friends that will surely miss his knowledge and unique sense of humor he so often displayed.

Chuck was predeceased by his mother Peggy Hardesty and is survived by his two brothers Glen E. Hardesty Jr. (of Hamilton, Ohio) and David Lee Hardesty (of Findlay, Ohio) and his sister Linda S. Eaton (of Tullahoma, TN).

Chuck will be missed, and may he R.I.P.
