Charles A. Waugh

Charles A. Waugh, age 77 years, of Bath Township, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Summa Akron City Hospital following a long illness.

Charles was born in Barberton on January 28, 1949, and lived in the area most of his life. He was the son of the late Charles L. and Juanita (Shaw) Waugh. Charles was a graduate of The Ohio State University and was a member of the 1968, 1969, and 1970 teams when they won two National Championships. Following college, he worked for Babcock & Wilcox as an engineer for 45 years. His career with B&W allowed him and his family to live in Italy and Australia. Charles enjoyed coaching his sons in soccer, woodworking, and later spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Neila; sons and daughters-in-law: Aaron and Amy Waugh of Portland, Oregon, Cullen and Alisha Waugh of Wadsworth, and Adam and Cristina Waugh of Cincinnati; grandchildren: Perry, Eliza, Behlen, Griffen, Jocelyn, Emmett, Isla, and Nora; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kaye Waugh, and sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Joel Mesek all of North Canton.

Funeral services honoring Charlie’s life will be 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, May 26 at The Billow Funeral Home FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 North Miller Road, Fairlawn with burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.
