Charles (Chuck) Witmer, age 82, passed away, January 29, at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Canton, Ohio, he was a resident of Bath Township for 45 years. He attended Timken High School and later Kent State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Prior to enrolling in college, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Witmer, Sarah Oliver, stepfather John Oliver, brothers Dick and Dave Witmer, and sister Madelyn Graef. He is survived by his wife Patricia Witmer, sister Karen Waselesky, daughter Valerie Fuller, son-in-law Scott Fuller, grandchildren Kate and Ella Fuller, and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was an avid reader, runner and bridge player. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their school activities. He will be remembered as a loyal friend and for his wisdom, work ethic, dry sense of humor, and love of family vacations. Most of all, he will be remembered for all the support and devotion he gave to his family throughout his life.

Per Chuck’s request, there will be no services, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
