Clyde A. Lowry, age 87, of Tallmadge, Ohio passed away peacefully Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was born on December 3, 1938 in Akron, Ohio.

He graduated from Akron Central High School, class of 1957. He loved basketball, was picked 1st team All City Basketball in 1956 and 1957. On September 28, 1958, he married Jaqueline “Jackie” Corwin. Together, they shared 69 years of marriage. They graduated in the same class from Central High School.

Clyde was a foreman at B.F. Goodrich and President of the Foreman’s Club in 1973. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in June 1987 with 34 years of service. He also played on their basketball team and won first place two years in a row.

Prior to his time at B.F. Goodrich, he served on the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier from 1958 to 1960. There too he played on the aircraft carrier’s basketball team, also winning 1st place in the league. At the time of his discharge, he proudly came home with a jacket, pictures, and a trophy for the ship as proof.

In 1970, Clyde and Jackie founded Lowry Swimming Pools, located at 2445 Mogadore Rd. in Akron. The family business is now in its 56th year of operation. In 2001, Clyde’s son, Jason Lwory, took over took over the business and has run it successfully for the last 25 years. Clyde was so very proud of his son.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; and by his daughter, Amber Lee Lowry, who passed away August 25, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie; son, Jason; and granddaughter, Alexis Louren Rockford.

Clyde will be laid to rest in a graveside service 1 P.M. WEDNESDAY August 5th at Glendale Cemetery, 150 Glendale Ave. Akron, Ohio 44302. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy and representatives of the V.F.W. at the cemetery.
