Col Katheryn Ann Lorzing, USAF Ret, age 84 years, passed away with family by her side Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at The Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.

Kathy was born November 17, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York and upon graduating in 1962 from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in New York, New York, she worked in a local hospital until joining The United States Air Force in November 1963. She served with distinction until retiring in November of 1987 as Colonel. While serving in the Air Force, she graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 1973 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and received her Master's of Science in Public Health from Southwest Texas State University, San Marcus.

In retirement, she volunteered at the Randolph Clinic, San Antonio, Texas and after moving to Ohio from Texas, she returned to work at the Rehabilitation and Home Health Akron, Visiting Nurse Service Hospice which is now part of The Cleveland Clinic Care Center. She served in home health Hospice and retired again after 13 years of service. Kathy enjoyed creating all of her own greeting cards, delving into technology, and her cocker spaniels were very important to her.

Preceded in death by her mother, Estelle Lorzing; brother, Charles "Chip" Lorzing; and fellow partner of 13 years, Albert Lackney; Kathy is survived by her sisters: Peggy (Nelson) Haffner of Perrysburg, Ohio and Wendy Lorzing (Walter Wilmoth) of Renesselaer, New York; nieces and nephews: Jessica (Mike) Hines of Norton, Peter (Nina) Lorzing of Canton, William (Krystal) Lorzing of McKinney, Texas, Tara Lorzing-Wilmoth of East Greenbush, New York, Trey Hines (Sydney Piacella), and Charlotte Lynn Hines all of Atwater; her boys: Cask and Rover and their adopted mom, Ellie.Kathy's family would like to acknowledge and thank Wag On Inn for the extra care they gave to her "boys" during her illness.

Friends will be received at The Billow Funeral Homes FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 North Miller Road, time to be announced. A private inurnment with full military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
