Danny William Howell went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, April 14, 2025. A Celebration of his life will be held at West Hill Baptist Church in Akron, OH on SATURDAY, July 19, 2025 at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served following the celebration.
Danny was born on August 24, 1947 to Frank William Howell and Edna Mae Smith in Fort Worth, Texas. At the time of his birth, the song, Danny Boy, was popular and his parents named him Danny rather than Daniel. After his parents’ divorce, he was raised in Texas by his mom.
Danny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a jet engine technician during the Vietnam War. He rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was proud of his service and throughout his life, he greeted every fellow marine with the United States Marine Corps motto, “Semper Fi” which means “always faithful.”
After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He retired from Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX after nearly 20 years of service.
Danny loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. During his retirement, he enjoyed cruising the Caribbean Sea. In fact, he had been on 72 cruises.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Sylvia Howell of nearly 49 years; daughter, Dr. Cassandra Hoffmann and spouse, Dr. Jacob Hoffmann; and grandsons, Glenn Hoffmann and William Hoffmann.
