Listen to Obituary

Deanne Katherine Demaris (nee Trent) passed away February 8th, 2026 at the age of 85. Born September 6, 1940 in the Pittsburgh suburb of Brentwood, she was the youngest child of Michael Trent (Triantafilou, of Samos, Greece) and Cleo Trent (nee Gongas, of Pittsburgh). Deanne’s twin brother Dean and sister Joanne Pavuk grew up happily in Brentwood during the prosperous 1950’s. It was during this time that she received her life-long endearing nickname “Peachy.”

After high school, Deanne attended the Pittsburgh Dental Institute and later worked in dentistry. She took great pleasure in introducing her sister Joanne to a dental student from Scranton, PA named Dr. Peter Pavuk; the two would go on to be married.

In 1965, Deanne met Constantine “Gus” Demaris of Pittsburgh at an AHEPA dance. They would court and marry six months later. In 1978 Deanne and Gus moved from Youngstown to Fairlawn with their two daughters, Michelle and Maria.

Deanne was an active member Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. She enjoyed membership in Philoptochos, the GGG’s, lunch bunch, Daughters of Penelope, and the Aegean Stock Club. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and GOYA chaperone.

Deanne cheerfully engaged everyone she encountered. She never met a stranger, just a new friend. She enjoyed reading her father’s bible and adopting his highlights as her favorite passages. Her faith was her rock and was the cornerstone of the life she built with Gus during their 50 years of marriage. Being with her family and sharing time with them gave her great joy.

Deanne cherished the years she looked after her young grandchildren while Maria worked. The time together during these early years with her grandchildren forged a closeness between them displayed in later years by their frequent visits and phone calls throughout the week. Deanne enjoyed sharing the updates from her grandchildren with everyone she would see at church, talk to on the phone or at dinner with her Vitalia friends.

From her Woodpark home in Fairlawn to her Westwood Village Condominium to Vitalia Independent Living, Deanne appreciated her friends and neighbors very much. Typically, Deanne was among the last to leave any social engagement – saying goodbye was no fun. In her later years, following the loss of her husband and less mobile, Deanne would support her family, friends and even strangers by happily praying for their well-being.

Deanne is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Cleo Trent (Triantafilou); twin brother, Dean Trent; and sister, Joanne Pavuk (Peter). She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Buzzie (David) and Maria Williams (Bryan); and six grandchildren Julia, Anthony and Zachary Bolton of Pittsburgh, Hannah Williams Souaiden (Christian) of Oklahoma, Rachel Williams of Fairlawn, and Constantine Williams of Fairlawn.

Many people gave love and support to Deanne in her final years. Our family offers special appreciation to Executive Director John McAnich at Vitalia of Montrose Independent Living for his special care and her hair stylist and dear friend, Keith Knight, who transported her to her weekly appointments. Deanne greatly appreciated their kindness.
