Donald Robert Botto, 93, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 5, 1932, in Hicksville, New York, Don later moved to Brookville. He was a proud alumnus of Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and graduated from Princeton University in 1954 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He later earned a Master’s in Business Administration from The University of Akron and pursued doctoral studies at Kent State University.

In 1954, Don began his long and accomplished career at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, becoming Director of Sales & Marketing until his retirement. It was in Akron where he met the love of his life, Cornelia “Beau” Gohr. Married for 63 years, Don and Beau built a life rich in love, family, and community service.

A dedicated member of the Akron community, Don served on the boards of Old Trail School, the Great Trail Council, and Bluecoats Incorporated of Summit County. He took special joy in reading to first graders at Fort Island School, where his kindness and storytelling left a lasting impression. Don was also deeply involved at Portage Country Club, playing a key role in its revitalization following the 1999 fire.

Don will be remembered for his engaging storytelling, sharing cherished memories of his Long Island childhood, prep school and college years, international travels, and unforgettable family vacations. He was an avid gardener, enthusiastic golfer, generous volunteer, devoted husband, loving father, and proud “Papa” to his grandchildren. One of his favorite sayings, “Go Gettem’ Tiger!” will continue to echo in the hearts of those he inspired.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lea Zona Botto and William Joseph Botto; and his sister, Aline Botto Rohwel.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Cornelia Beaumont “Beau” Botto, who passed away shortly after Don on July 23, 2025. He is survived by his daughters, Cornelia “Cobe” (Tim) Crumley and Laura Comstock (Dave Selders); and grandchildren, Cornelia “Lia” Crumley, Cooper Comstock (Summer Tompkins), Katherine Comstock (Brad Marcotte), and Callie Comstock (Jacob Hamilton). He will be deeply missed by his family, friends in the Friendly Village, and all who shared laughter and memories around their table by the pool.
