Edward L. Dunlap

1942 – 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Edward Dunlap, 83, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. He was a devoted husband to Mary and a loving father to Dara (Dan), Marti, and Greg (Jamie).

Dad was hardworking and dedicated. He spent 39 years working as a tire engineer where he was project manager for a team that designed tires for the Space Shuttle. He was also granted several design patents for the companies he worked for. Despite his many work responsibilities, he always made time for his family.

Though Dad would never brag, he deserves to have his many years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; his children; five grandchildren: Nathan, Nick, Natalie, Ella, and James; sister Linda (Merritt); as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Calling hours will be held on FRIDAY, May 23 from 2–4 PM at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, OH 44333 with a Memorial Service to follow at 4PM. Inurnment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date for family and extended family only.

We feel comfort in knowing that Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
