Elmer J. DeWitt

Elmer J. DeWitt, age 100, of Munroe Falls, passed away peacefully Friday, June 13, 2025.

He was born in Grand Junction, MI on August 6, 1924. Elmer proudly served in the United States Navy in WWII from 1942-1945 and the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. He had a PhD degree in Organic chemistry from Emery University in Atlanta. Elmer loved his career as a Research Chemist. His company took out two patents on work Elmer did. He was a master bridge player and became a Life Master in 1967. He was a highly sought after partner to play with. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, especially during trips to Alaska. He enjoyed poetry and sharing it with those he loved.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary F. DeWitt.

He is survived by his children, Susan DeWitt, Stephen (Debbie Allen) DeWitt, John (Kathy) DeWitt, and Pamela DeWitt; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
