Faye Blair, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away in Summerville, South Carolina on January 12, 2026. Born July 27, 1931, in Baxley Georgia to John and Myrtle Land, her passing is preceded by Tom Blair, her husband of 57 years, and Clarence Berry, her second husband of 11 years, as well as 4 brothers, her son Tim, and son-in-law Steve Befus.
Transplanted from Alabama at age 12 after her mother’s death, she moved to Akron to live with an aunt. She graduated from East High School with training in office administration and married her high school sweetheart, Tom. During the Korean War, while Tom served as a Marine, she supported him at home, taking care of their infant daughter.
Faye was a person of steady faith. Her confidence in God’s presence sustained her and became a source of comfort. She was active at the former Fairlawn Bible Chapel and The Chapel in University Park where she was a member of the Prime Time Adult Bible Fellowship, at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy and the Akron Christian Women’s Club. She enjoyed volunteering at Akron City Hospital. Faye’s enthusiastic participation to the end of her life with Foundation for the Nations was a particular joy.
More than anything else Faye was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cared deeply for her family and found joy in creating a welcoming home. Her kindness was expressed in acts of service and encouragement. Faye will be remembered for her perseverance and generosity.
Faye is survived by her daughters Susan Befus and Becky (Paul) Luedtke; her 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who give thanks for her impact on their lives. They take comfort in the promise of resurrection and eternal life in Christ.
