"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Frank Vidakovics, our dear Apa, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family. His faith became sight on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

He lived his life with an unwavering focus on his faith in God, his wife and children and his church family.

Frank was born on October 25, 1936, in Baja Hungary. He is survived by his beloved wife Sara “Anya” of 59 years and children Barbara Krueske, Lillian, Justine (Vinny) Piticaru, Kathy, Diana (Jason) Reutter, Tammy (Victor) Botosan, Esther (Sergey) Prediy and Frank (Mimi). His grandchildren: Joshua (Renee), Abigail (Jeremy) Freund, Samuel (Nikki), Simon (Danielle), Benjamin (Jessica), Philip, Timothy, Claudia (fiancée Jared Zarkovacki) Piticaru; Nathan (Haley), Connor, and Serina Botosan; Angela (Matthew) McKenzie, Kristina and Karissa Krueske; Chelsea (Serhii) Odenskyi, Isaiah, Isaac, Dominka, Zaleena, Silas and Eliana Prediy; Alexis, Lauren and Preston Reutter and Olivia, FJ, Adelaide and Gwen Vidakovics; along with 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Klara Greene.

Frank was preceded in death by Elija Prediy, Brianna Botosan and Mike Krueske. And his parents Wilma and Gergely, his brother Gergely and sisters Magdalena Gardality, Rozalia Kaplar and Elizabeth Auer.

In 1956, at 19 years old, Frank escaped Hungary during the Revolution. He was in refugee camps for 3 years in Yugoslavia and Austria with his mother and sisters and was sponsored to the United States by fellow Believers in 1959. In 1966, he gave his life to the Lord and became His servant. Later that year, he returned to Hungary where he met his wife, his darling Sara. His entire life he worked tirelessly for his wife and children.

He was an active member of the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean) on Copley Rd. Because he knew he was forgiven much, he worshiped with purpose and would often say “I’ll do anything to help save a soul.” His life was marked not by fanfare but by quiet obedience. His children often found him reading Scripture or other books, and even in his final days he knelt to pray daily despite physical challenges.

Frank did have another love —a perfectly cut lawn—and continued mowing until the age of 84.

His grandchildren describe him as: loyal, steadfast, consistent, deeply loving, spiritually devoted, hardworking, honest and always could put a smile on your face with a witty comment. He will be deeply missed.
