Helen L. Reedy

Helen Gerber Reedy passed away on June 10, 2026, after an extended illness. A native Akronite, she grew up on North Hill, graduating from North High School in 1964. As a student and graduate of The University of Akron, Helen was both a scholar and a leader. She was lifelong active member of Delta Gamma Fraternity as a collegian and the Akron Alumnae chapter. She and her husband Mel were leaders of NAMI Summit County, giving countless volunteer hours as dedicated champions of mental health initiatives in this area. In recent years, Helen was an active member of The Women’s Committee of The University of Akron. She will be missed by many.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Mel and sons David and Michael. She is survived by granddaughter Madison Reedy; brother-in-law David Hinman; brother-in-law Corky (Sue) Reedy and countless friends.
