James D. Bartoo Jr.

James D. Bartoo Jr., age 69, passed away peacefully Monday, October 12, 2026.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and James D. Bartoo Sr.

He is survived by his sister, Janice (Floyd) Styer; his brother, David (Susan) Bartoo; and many nieces and nephews.

James graduated from Firestone High School and the University of Akron with a bachelor’s in accounting. He worked as a parking attendant and in security. James loved to read, listen to music, watch movies, and play online video games. He never failed to share a dad joke with everyone he met.

He was a dedicated member of the Masonic fraternity, beginning his Masonic journey as a DeMolay. He went on to serve as Past Master of Star Lodge No. 187, F. & A.M., and as Past High Priest of Cuyahoga Falls Chapter No. 225, Royal Arch Masons. He was also a member of the Valley of Akron, where he continued his involvement in the Masonic tradition of brotherhood, service, and fellowship.

Memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM THURSDAY, October 22, 2026, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the start of the service at 1:00 PM.
