Jeffrey L Mathias

Jeff Mathias, 63, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on February 21, 2024.

Born and raised in North Canton, Ohio, he graduated from Hoover High School in 1979. As a lifelong enthusiast of The Boy Scouts and the railroads, Jeff had earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was employed by CSX Railroad.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy (Jeff) Rooks; son, Brad Mathias; a grandson; stepmother, Donna Mathias; sister, Melissa (David) Meadows; two nephews; aunt, Dolly Meuller; uncle, Rich Venditti; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou (Jack) Perry and father James Mathias.

A memorial gathering will be held on FRIDAY, March 1, 2024 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, OH 44333 from 5-7 pm to celebrate and honor Jeff’s life.

It was Jeff's wish that any memorial contributions be made to the Buckeye Council of the Boy Scouts of America or to the Northern Ohio Railway Museum.
