John Richard Ferensic, age 91, of Akron, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2025.
He was born September 23, 1933, in Emeigh, PA; son of the late Michael and Pauline Ferensic. John loved to dance. He could always be found working around his house, in his yard, or garden. John was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John was a proud Catholic who faithfully served St. Michael's Church in Akron until its closing. He demonstrated immense stewardship throughout his time there, generously volunteering in the catering department, assisting at Bingo nights, and serving as Athletic Director, where he coached various sports with dedication and heart.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Marie Ferensic, Joseph (Helen) Ferensic, and Glendlean (John) Hobensack.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Doris Ferensic (nee Koval); cherished son, Richard J. Ferensic; beloved grandchildren, Jaclynne Ferensic and Justin (Hannah) Ferensic; treasured great grandchildren, Bailey, Parker, Carson, and Hayden; dear sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Kuczkir; and many nieces and nephews.
Private inurnment has taken place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.
