John R. Naum, 77, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He was born August 11, 1936 in Akron, son of Leo and Thelma Naum.
John was a graduate of University of Akron where he was a campus leader, president of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and honoree of ODK Leadership Society. John owned Canton Akron Beauty & Barber Supply and ended his business career as vice president of RM Barnum Beauty Supply. A lifelong resident of Akron, he was active in many civic associations including Akron Civic Theater, Stan Hywet, Akron Area Arts Alliance, Progress Through Preservation, Reading Radio Program of Goodwill, First Akron and others too numerous to mention.
He is survived by cousins, Harriett Botka of Framingham, Massachusetts and Vera Fejzo, Joni Hoxha, Virginia Mellion and the Temo family of Akron.
Calling hours will be held 2 to 7 p.m. NEXT SUNDAY February 17 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Akron Community Foundation, 345 West Cedar Street, Akron OH 44307 in John's name would be appreciated.
