Judith L. “Judy” Heil (nee Shaadt) has taken God’s hand. If a measure of a well-lived life is how many people you touch, her’s was well lived indeed.
Judy was born in Akron, Ohio in November of 1956 to Hilda and Carl Schaadt. Her younger brother, Jeff Schaadt, was born just a few years later. She studied psychology at Akron University and graduated cum laude. She then went on to have a successful 37 year career at Mactac.
Judy married her husband, Paul, in 1995, and they shared 30 years of marriage together. Their only child, Katrina, was born in 1998, and it has been a trio ever since, plus a few beloved beagles and a cat along the way.
While her talents were vast, she had a creativity that was unmatched. Her artistry was evident in her colorful home, hand painted furniture, and eclectic wardrobe. Judy filled her days with reading, writing, sipping tea and coffee, art, attending concerts, making jewelry, growing beautiful fruits, vegetables, and herbs in her garden, and creating memories with her family and friends.
Her passion for life and her free spirit led her on countless adventures traveling and exploring the world with loved ones. You could often find her walking along the beach in Isle of Palms or swimming laps early in the morning in the pool at her happy place, her condo in Port Clinton. She cared deeply about the planet and had an admirable drive for environmental conservation. Judy also loved animals, and had been an avid vegetarian since she was 11 years old!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilda and Carl Schaadt; her mother and father-in-law, Paul and Althea Heil; her sister- and brother-in-law, Steve and June Francy; and her dear friends, Bonnie and Tom Lindas.
She leaves her well-loved daughter, Katrina Heil; husband, Paul Heil; brother, Jeff Schaadt; nieces and nephews: Stephanie and Matt Ventura, Travis and Megan Francy, Josh and Christina Francy; many great nieces and nephews; cousins, Marilyn and Richard Furest, Jan, Katie, and Chris Savelle, Debbie Schaadt, and Kristen Ziegler; as well as numerous friends turned family.
