Karen Lyn Pidcock Price, 76, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 6:01 p.m. at Summa Health System – Akron Campus, due to complications from an aggressive infection.
Karen was born on June 26, 1949, in Akron, Ohio, to Jeanne (née Starn) and George Pidcock. She grew up in the Dayton and Barberton areas, and began her college education at Wright State University before transferring to the University of Akron, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in December 1971.
On June 22, 1974, Karen married the love of her life, Gregory Price, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Barberton. The couple made their home in Cuyahoga Falls, where Karen lived for the rest of her life. She worked as an elementary school music teacher until the birth of her first son.
From that point forward, she dedicated herself to her family and community, contributing her time and talents in many ways. She taught Sunday school at Trinity United Church of Christ throughout the 1980s and 1990s and was an active volunteer in the Cuyahoga Falls public schools. Karen played a pivotal role in teaching computer literacy to district faculty and created/organized annual craft shows at the high school that became major fundraisers for the Instrumental Music Patrons (IMP), supporting the high school band program in which her children participated.
Karen had a deep and abiding love for music and creativity. She played the piano beautifully, wrote original poetry, and crafted digital artwork. However, her greatest passion was genealogy. Her meticulous research into family history earned her the role of genealogist for the Pidcock Family Association. Her efforts also led to her proud membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), where she most recently served as regent of her local chapter for the last two years.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Gregory Price; her sons Jeffrey Price (spouse Ina Yoon) and Michael Price (spouse Coleen Price); and her grandchildren Michael Price Jr., Ara Price, and James Price. She is also survived by her stepbrother, Tom Obradovich (spouse Judy Obradovich).
A celebration of life service will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St., Akron, OH, 44310, on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Calling hours will be one hour before the service, starting at 2:30 PM, and the service will begin at 3:30 PM.
