Katie Lou Himes

Katie Lou Himes, age 90 years, of Mogadore, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, at The Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Roger Hospice Care Center.

Katie was born December 10, 1935, in Wooster and was the daughter of the late Alton and Gertrude (Rife) Huber. On June 28, 1957, she married Ken Himes and later moved to Mogadore in 1967. She was very active in Village Belles (Sweet Adelines) and was in charge of costumes for more than 20 years. Katie was active in the Mogadore Lions, including building the park in Mogadore. An avid Mogadore sports fan, she also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians (Guardians), Browns, and Cavs. Katie also loved watching college football and basketball, especially Ohio State, Kent State, and Kansas. She enjoyed spending summer weekends at Lake Milton Campground where she was active in planning events.

In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Karlie Cline; and her brother, Jon Huber. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ken; her children: Jeff (Tammy Davis) of Lawrence, Kansas, Keelie (Mike) Cline of Rocky River, and Kregg (Margy) Himes of Stow; grandchildren: Michael Cline, Kyle Himes, and Riley Himes; nieces: Tracy (Tim) Maynard, and Jackie Himes; and sister-in-law, Betty Jenkins.

A celebration of Katie’s life will be announced later.
