Krista Fern Poe, age 73, ascended the glorious stairway to Heaven on October 31st, 2025. Her loving sister Lesley was by her side at her home at Concordia at Sumner as she passed peacefully into God’s loving arms.
Krista was born on May 7, 1952 to William Braden Poe and Mary Esther Poe in Akron, Ohio. She resided the majority of her life in Akron, with the exception of living in Boston for 25 years. Krista loved all things Boston.
Krista graduated from Firestone High School, Class of 1970. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Education from the Ohio University in 1974. From there, Krista attended the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) where she received her Master’s Degree in Psychology/Education in 1976.
Krista was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and served in a Corporate Fitness Leadership position, where she created individualized fitness programs for employees. Goodyear’s high absentee rate lowered significantly as their employees benefitted from Krista’s health and fitness programs for their individual needs. Because of her success at Goodyear, she was recognized as Woman of the Year in Akron as a leader in the field of Corporate Fitness. Krista was also employed by General Electric, Project Power, and Aveda Skin Care over the years.
Later in life, Krista was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which she approached with a deep faith, determination, and humor. She had a zest for life and made the very best of her challenges.
Krista had a strong love for the Arts, ballet, plays, modern dance, music, and Lesley’s many dogs (and one cat!) over the years. She loved learning all that she could about their pets from Lesley and were very much a part of her family, as they enriched her life. She loved all of her friends so very much, always wanting the best for them.
She will be remembered most for her intelligence, her quick wit, and her openness to selflessly invest in the lives of others. If you knew Krista, you knew that she never met a stranger.
Krista is preceded in death by her parents, William Braden Poe and Mary Esther Poe; and brother, Braden William Poe. She is survived by her loving sister, Lesley Lucille Poe; and by her sweet Border Collie “nephew,” Tanner.
