Listen to Obituary

Lois Jean (Zorbini) Stevens, of Akron, died at home on September 26, 2025. Her life is celebrated, and death grieved, by her best friend Pam (Thompson) Thielo and the entire Thompson family; brother David and sister-in-law Debbie Zorbini of Alabama; her cousins Joseph (Karen) Diloreti in Green, OH, Eliana (John) in Ashville, NC and Katia Guerrieri in Italy; niece Jennifer (Nick) Cowart and nephew Brian (Megan) Zorbini, numerous friends and loved ones.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Harold “Bob” Stevens, dear parents Evelina A. and Celestino Zorbini, from Italy, who raised her and her brother in Yorkville, Ohio.

Throughout their decades of life and love, Lois and Bob made homes in Ohio, New York City, and Connecticut. They always returned to Ohio, which was the center of their family. As a first-generation Italian American, Lois was fiercely dedicated to her family.

The Thompson sisters Pam, Debbie, Marlene, Mary, Sally, and Katie, and their husbands, partners, children and grandchildren, in both Ohio and Colorado, came to know Lois later in life. Their paths entwined when Lois and Pam met through mutual friends at Concordia at Sumner Community in Copley, Ohio. It was at this moment that Lois became a “seventh sister” to the clan. Lois’ deep laugh, frank observations, and willingness to grab you by the shoulders and ask you the question on her mind — or tell you exactly what she thinks — “Hello?” will always be missed. We laughed a lot! Thank you, Lois!

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1st, in the Chapel at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., with a reception immediately following at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Way of Summit & Medina or Ohio Immigrant Alliance or St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
