Michael Baker, 69, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on June 25, 2025. Born on October 22, 1955, Michael was a poet and a teacher. He Lived in New Jersey and the New York City area for many years. He recently returned to Akron to be with his friends of many years until his passing.
Michael attended, Rankin, Perkins, Buchtel, the University of Akron, and Kent State University. He attained a PHD level of education, but did not want to bother with a dissertation.
Michael is survived by his brothers, Chris and Tom; and his son, Martin. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mollie and Carrie; his brother, Matthew, as well as his parents, Thomas and JoAnne.
Michael will be remembered for his sweet but devilish knowing smile. Michael was an expert on media of all sorts. He had answers to any question and could sit in a coffee shop with someone for hours and discuss any topic from history, sports, music, movies or books. He read voraciously, thousands of books. His passing is a deep loss to those who knew him. For those who visited Catharine's place, they will have memories they'll never forget.
He was a unique, and at times a challenging, person; he is loved and missed by many. May he rest in peace.
