Patricia A. “Patty” O’Shea passed away peacefully at her home in Doylestown, OH, on August 4, 2025.

Born the youngest of six children to Thomas and Rita Mae (Casenhiser) O’Shea, Patty’s life was marked by deep compassion, gentle wisdom, and an unwavering dedication to others. She earned her Master of Arts in Education from The University of Akron, later expanding her calling by becoming a hospice grief counselor. Over the years, she worked with several agencies across northeast Ohio, guiding countless individuals through seasons of loss with empathy, patience, and grace. Her clients often spoke of the loving peace they felt in her presence.

Patty had a gift for connection—whether through her work, her friendships, or the special bond she shared with her beloved dog, Fionnula (“Nula”). She cherished simple joys: walking in nature, the serenity of Cape Cod, the wit of Mandy Patinkin, and quiet moments that nourished her spirit. She lived with a deep awareness of the beauty in everyday life, embodying the words of Irish poet John O’Donohue: “May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; her “Irish twin” sister, Mary O’Shea; and her brother, Patrick O’Shea. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Meyer (Scott); her brothers, Tim O’Shea and Kevin O’Shea (Mary); brother-in-law, Mike Beckman; and her nieces and nephews, Gretchen Wildman, John Meyer, Darcie O’Shea, Colleen Barton, Caitie O’Shea, Tara O’Shea, Gloria Fragasse, Ben Beckman, and Jake Beckman, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Patty’s life was one of quiet strength and abundant love. Her legacy endures in the lives she touched and the comfort she brought to others.

A special celebration of Patty’s life will be held at a later date.
