Rev. Elizabeth D. “Beth” Stone, age 97, entered into eternal rest on July 26th, 2025. She was born in Akron, OH on January 13th, 1928 to parents Leroy and Mamie Garver. She was a graduate of Kent State University and later, obtained a Master in Divinity (MDiv) from the Methodist Theological School in Delaware, OH. She married her husband, Russell W. Stone on June 26th, 1948, and together they raised four children: Deborah, Laurrie, Michelle, and Mark.
Before becoming an ordained minister in the Methodist Church, Beth was a mother, church choir member and soloist, and an elementary school librarian. As a minister, Beth served at many Methodist churches throughout Ohio, including churches in Niles, Savanna, Sugarcreek, Conneaut, and Garfield Heights. She thoroughly enjoyed the churches she served, making countless life-long friends along the way. Nevertheless, "home" was always Stow, Ohio, where she and Russ raised their children.
Beth was a dog lover, music lover, natural-born weed puller, and also thought that being born on Friday the 13th was the best thing ever! She occasionally took art classes - a selection of her paintings will be on display during calling hours. In high school, she was an accomplished competitive swimmer, loved playing basketball, and excelled at playing trumpet.
Beth is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Russ; and her parents, LeRoy and Mamie Garver; Son-in-law Tim Kimmel; and grandson, David Iceman. Immediate family grieving her loss include her daughters, Deborah Freeman (Phil), Laurrie Iceman (Denny), and Michele Kimmel; and son, Mark Stone (Beth); grandchildren, Ken Kimmel, Devin Kimmel (Alina McNeal), Andrea Hostetter (David); and great grandchildren, Joshua and Jorgia Hostetter.
