Robin Louise (Lang) O'Neill

Robin Louise (Lang) O’Neill, 73, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of profound joy, dedication, and resilience.

Born on June 2, 1953, to the late Paul Douglas and Jean Elise Lang, Robin grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where she graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1971. She went on to attend Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, graduating in 1975. Her time in college was highlighted by a formative semester abroad at King’s College London and, most importantly, meeting the love of her life and future husband, James.

Robin graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English and later advanced her education at Kent State University, earning both a Master's degree and a PhD in Guidance Counseling.

A Life of Service and Passion

Robin dedicated her professional life to guiding and shaping young minds. She began her teaching career at Norton High School before transitioning into counseling. She spent the remainder of her career as a beloved guidance counselor at Twinsburg Middle School and at Woodridge Middle School, retiring in 1998.

Beyond the classroom, Robin was deeply invested in her community. She was highly active in the PANDA program, championing youth drug prevention. An avid long-distance bicyclist and a passionate lover of her family pets, she embraced life with vibrant energy. For many years, she found immense peace and comfort in knowing Jesus as her Savior and enjoyed attending Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls.

Family and Legacy

Though Robin faced a long, challenging struggle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and its many complications, she never once complained. She chose instead to find joy in every day, serving as a constant source of inspiration to everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Robin was preceded in death by her brother, Eric Lang. She is survived by her devoted husband, James Richard O’Neill; her loving children, Paul James O’Neill and daughter Erin Emily O’Neill (Smerick) and her husband Mathew Smerick, granddaughter Leila Avalon O’Neill, and grandson, James Joseph Smerick; and a sister, Rona Knotts.

Robin’s family will honor her memory with a private service at a later date.
