Ronald Eugene Schneider

Ronald E. Schneider, 83, passed away March 16, 2012 surrounded by his beloved three children.

Born in Akron, he lived most of his life in the Akron area. He retired in 1993 as a respected Physics Professor at the University of Akron after 30 years. Ronald was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army in Japan post World War II. He enjoyed reading, was a food and wine enthusiast, and was an avid hiker and climbed every state high point in the Continental U.S.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne; sons, Mark, Bret (Lori) of Maryland; daughters, Gretchen Schneider of Akron, Marianne (Brian) Prather of Maryland; grandchildren, Rebecca Schneider, Amanda Lobato, Jake and Sarah Schneider, Melissa and Kevin Prather, George, Matthew and John Schneider; sister, Shirley (Mavin) Corbin.

A service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron with Dr. Donard M. Engle officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a charity of one's choice .
