Scott John Blankenberg, 39, of Akron, peacefully passed away at his home on December 27, 2025. Scott “Scotty” graduated from Westerville South High School. He is survived by his mother, Kim (Ron) Hess; his brother, Joshua (Kathleen) Albano; grandmother, Pat Vanderbrook; aunt, Jody (Mike) Palma, uncle, Pete (Hope) Albano, aunt, Lisa (Todd) Bare, uncle, Tom (Bobbi Lynn) Albano, aunt, Melody (Ray) Dowd, uncle, Eddie (Sara) Vanderbrook, numerous cousins, and his special nephews and niece, Dillon Nichols, Harrison Albano, and Lennon Albano. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Rose (Albano) Switzer, grandfathers, Peter Albano and Walt Switzer, uncle, Dan Albano, and aunts, Mary Albano and Sheryl Blankenberg. Scotty was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He grew up predominantly in Columbus and loved his Buckeyes. He was a sports enthusiast, and rooted for the Packers and the Yankees. He was a comic enthusiast, and could name almost any superhero and supervillain. He loved cooking and was a great chef. He loved watching cooking shows with his mother and playing video games with his brother. Most of all, Scotty loved his family and friends with all of his heart, and his big Scotty hugs proved it.
We will be holding a celebration of life on January 9th, 2026 at Brubaker's Pub, 4005 Medina Rd, Akron 44333 at 6pm.
