Scott Duey, 78, passed away on April 24th, 2026, into the Loving Embrace of our God.

Scott vonKleist Duey was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 21, 1947. He grew up in northeast Ohio and attended the University of Akron. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Scott returned to Akron and became a longtime resident of the Highland Square neighborhood.

With a creative and clever spirit, Scott loved to write. Within this community, he played many roles, from Beacon Journal sports page contributor to roofer and painter to volunteer. Scott was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, son, uncle, and loyal friend.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents John and Marjorie; brothers Doug and Laddie; and sister Peaches. Scott is survived by his wife Kristin; children Sarah, Ian, and Alice; son-in-law Shammas; granddaughter Elodie; brother Christopher; grandbunny Theo; and grandcat Graeters.

A memorial mass in remembrance of Scott will be held on May 29th at 3:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish, 164 West Market Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to two organizations close to Scott’s heart - Dr. Bob’s Home in Akron, Ohio and Autism Speaks. Scott’s family extends a special thank you to the staff of Hickory Ridge nursing facility.
