Steve Floyd of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026 with the love of his life by his side after a courageous journey with Parkinson’s disease.
Born on October 17, 1946 in Knoxville, Tennessee, Steve was the son of the late Ruth and Robert Floyd. From an early age, he embodied the values that would define his life—hard work, dedication, service, and an unwavering devotion to family. He attended Maryville College in Knoxville graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.
Following graduation, Steve joined the United States Army and served from 1969-1970 in the Vietnam War.
As a youth, he enjoyed delivering newspapers, boy scouts, and lifeguarding. Above all else, Steve loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy came from the people he loved most.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Floyd; daughters, Erin (Donnie) Constantine and Stephanie (Eddie) Daniels; grandchildren, Mia and Morgan Constantine and Bryce and Zara Daniels. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy (Mark) Matherne; sister-in-laws, Mary (John) Caruso, Rita Starceski; brother-in-laws, John (Marisa) Starceski, Jan (Anita) Starceski, Pete (Josephine) Starceski, Phil (Loli) Starceski, Paul (Robin) Starceski; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends including Andrew Kyprianou, Brian Rodabaugh, Marie Morgan and Craig Griffin, Vern Hershberger, Roger Harris, Ashley, Randall, Riley and Cara Beyer.
Outside of work, Steve had a lifelong passion for sports and the arts. He enjoyed running, biking, and swimming, including triathlons. Those who knew him knew how much joy he found in golf and the camaraderie that came with it. In recent years, he took pleasure in watercolor painting.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers who walked alongside them throughout Steve’s Parkinson’s journey, offering compassion, dignity, and support during difficult days. These include Visiting Angels Stephanie Moses, Barbara Deegan, Wanda McCullough, Joyce Freeman and Traditions Hospice. Family also wishes to thank Dr. Scott Mabee, for years of care and support, and the Geriatrics team at Wade Park VA, especially Dr. Theresa Dolinar, Dr. Ellen Day, Dr. Christine McArthur, and Mary Bourdrez, MSW. They would also like to thank everyone who prayed for Steve and the family during this journey. Your love, prayers, kindness, and support were deeply felt and brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time.

“I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
