Teena Joanne Simonetti (née Scheib), lovingly known as “Daboo” to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2025, in Fairlawn, Ohio, at the age of 69.
Born on March 8, 1956, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Teena grew up and graduated high school in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. For the past 48 years, she shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Joe Simonetti. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and community.
Teena was the proud mother of two children: Jennifer Platts (Mark) and Joseph Simonetti (Jen Lyden). She was a beloved grandmother to five grandchildren—Sydney, Charlotte, and Jackson Platts, and Samuel and Nel Simonetti—who knew her warmly as “Daboo.” She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews (and their children).
Teena is preceded in death by her brothers Greg Scheib and Norm Fabec, her sister-in-law Susan Neithamer, her brother-in-law Vin Neithamer, and her nephews Derek Scheib and Tony Simonetti. She is survived by her sisters Donna Naples (Bob) and Patti Sembrat (Bob), her brother Glenn Fabec (Arlene), and her sister-in-law Pam Scheib, along with many other loving family members and friends who were instrumental in her life.
Known universally for her kindness and generosity, Teena was affectionately known as the neighborhood mom. She welcomed everyone from elementary school friends to soccer teammates and college roommates into her home, which was always open (as was the backyard pool). Whether offering a listening ear, a warm meal, or a quiet moment of comfort, Teena had a rare gift for making others feel welcome, comfortable, and loved.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd, Fairlawn, OH 44333. Teena will be laid to rest at Deer Creek Cemetery in Cheswick, PA, on Tuesday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a cause close to Teena’s heart.
She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
